小王子：是這樣嗎？

Is that all?

商人：是的，我擁有星星，因為在我之前沒有人想到擁有它們。

Yes, I own the stars because nobody else before me thought of owning them.

小王子：是的，這是事實。可是你用星星來做什么？

Yes, that’s true... And what do you do with the stars?

商人：我一遍又一遍地數(shù)它們。這很難，但我喜歡這樣做。

I count them over and over again. It’s difficult. But I like it.

小王子：我不明白。你不能摘到星星。

I can’t understand you. You can’t pick the stars.

商人：但我可以把它放在銀行里。

But I can put them in the bank.

What does that mean?

商人：我在紙上寫下星星的個數(shù)，然后把它放進抽屜里。

I write the number of my stars on a paper. Then I put it in a drawer.

小王子：就這樣嗎？我有一朵花，我每天給他澆水。但你對星星有什么幫助啊！

And that’s all? I have a flower. I water my flower everyday. But you are of no use to the stars.

商人：這個......

That’s true.

小王子：大人們真古怪。
